According to Articles 28 and 29 short-term residence permit
is regulated for implementation of the law on foreigners and international protection.
Foreigners arriving to conduct scientific research.
Foreigners owning immovable property in Turkey.
Foreigners establishing business or commercial connections.
Foreigners participating in on-the-job training programs.
Foreigners attending educational programs as part of student exchange.
Foreigners staying for tourism purposes.
Foreigners seeking medical treatment, provided they do not pose a public health threat.
Foreigners are required to stay in Turkey by judicial or administrative authorities.
Foreigners transferring from a family residence permit.
Foreigners attending a Turkish language course.
Foreigners attending an education program, research, internship, or course through a public agency.
Foreigners applying within 6 months of graduating from a higher education program in Turkey.
Foreigners making an investment in Turkey as determined by the Council of Ministers, along with their foreign spouses and dependent children.
Citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Provide supporting information and documents regarding the reasons for staying in Turkey.
Not be subject to Article 7 of the relevant law.
Reside in accommodation that meets general health and safety standards.
When requested, present a criminal record certificate issued by the competent authorities in their country of citizenship or legal residence.
Provide information about their address in Turkey.
The regulations concerning the family residence permit are outlined in Articles 30-34 of the law governing foreigners and international protection.
Spouse from another country
Children from another country or children who are minors of their spouse
Dependent children from another country or dependent children of their spouse, who are either Turkish citizens, individuals covered by Article 28 of Law No. 5901, or foreigners with a residence permit, as well as refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection.
A family residence permit is issued for a maximum period of 3 years at a time.
The duration of a family residence permit cannot exceed the duration of the sponsor's residence permit under any circumstances.
To fulfill the sponsor's conditions, including having valid health insurance covering all family members, providing a criminal record certificate showing no convictions for crimes against the family, and having resided in Turkey for at least 1 year with a residence permit.
Foreigners applying for a family residence permit to reside with a sponsor in Turkey must meet certain requirements, such as submitting supporting documents for the reason for stay, intending to live together, and both being over 18 years old.
The regulations concerning the student residence permit are outlined in Articles 38-41 of the law on foreigners and international protection No. 6458 with other articles.
Foreigners who are joining primary or secondary education in Turkey and they don't have family residence permit, so they can apply for the student residence permit until they become 18.
Students who are in associate, undergraduate, graduate or even postgraduate programs in majors of medicine (TUS) or dentistry (DUS) provided that student residence permit can only support the spouse and children of its holder without any other family member.
The duration of student residence permit doesn’t exceed the period of study.
Completed and signed application form.
Passport and copies of the main page containing your photo, name, passport number, and the page with the entry stamp from Immigration, ensuring the date of entry is clearly visible. For E-visa entries, provide a copy of the document.
Four passport-sized biometric photos taken with you looking directly at the camera against a white or light grey background, with a neutral facial expression. Nearest to the university, there are photography shops in Hisar Üstü, Bebek, and Levent that meet official specifications.
Health insurance policy.
Proof of residence:
If you own your home, a copy of the title deed (for extension applications, a "residence document" is sufficient).
If you rent, a notarized copy of your rental agreement.
If you stay in a hotel or similar, proof of your stay.
If in a student dormitory, a document showing your residence status, signed or sealed.
If in another person's residence, a notarized undertaking from the host (if married, also from the spouse).
The regulations concerning the long-term residence permit are outlined in Articles 42-45 of the law on foreigners and international protection.
If you have lived in Turkey continuously for a minimum of eight years under a residence permit issued by Turkish authorities, you can apply for a Turkish long-term permit with indefinite validity.
Please note that if you have lived in Turkey for the mentioned period under refugee status, conditional refugee status, secondary protection status, humanitarian residence permit, or temporary protection, you are not eligible to apply.
Residing continuously in Turkey for a minimum of 8 years.
Having valid health insurance.
Not having received any social assistance in the 3 years prior to the application.
Not posing a threat to public security or the public sector.
Having a consistent source of income at a level that guarantees the sustenance of oneself and one's family.
Completed application form indicating that an application has been submitted.
Copy of the foreign national's passport.
Photograph.
Receipts or documents confirming payment of the required fees.
Declaration of having sufficient and regular financial means for the duration of their stay in Turkey.
Proof of health insurance.
Declaration of not having received social assistance in the 3 years prior to the application.
If the residence permit is granted, documentation showing the place of stay (title deed if the house belongs to them, or a lease agreement if not).
Proof of residence for the past 8 years.
Criminal record check.
If another residence permit has been used before with other related documents.
The regulations concerning the humanitarian residence permit are outlined in Articles 46-47 of the law on foreigners and international protection No.6458.
You are eligible to apply for this residence permit if you are in Turkey without a valid visa or residence permit, provided that no deportation decision has been issued against you, you are awaiting deportation, or you are unable to return to your country of residence due to emergency circumstances.
When the child's best interests are at stake.
When, despite a deportation decision or entry ban to Turkey, foreigners cannot be deported or their departure from Turkey is not feasible or reasonable.
If there is no deportation decision against the foreigner under Article 55.
When there is a judicial appeal against actions taken under Articles 53, 72, and 77.
In cases where foreigners need to enter and stay in Turkey due to an emergency.
In exceptional circumstances.
If the applicant is required to apply to the Immigration Service of the State in which they reside, they must submit the documents outlined below. They may inquire directly with the employee to whom the request was made within a period of two to four months. The residence permit is sent by official mail and is issued for a renewable period of one year. If six months have not passed since the refusal of a residence permit (tourist) and a humanitarian residence permit has been approved, the person is not required to pay a new fee as it has already been paid in advance.
A foreigner with a humanitarian residence permit must register their address on the address system within a maximum period of 20 working days from the date on which the residence permit is granted. Holders of a humanitarian residence permit may apply to transfer their residence to any other type of residence (except for a long-term residence permit) if they meet the necessary conditions for obtaining the required residence permit.
The regulations concerning the residence permit for victims of human trafficking are outlined in Articles 48-49 of the law on foreigners and international protection No.6458.
A residence permit for individuals subjected to human trafficking shall be issued to foreigners who have been victims of human trafficking or where there is compelling circumstantial evidence indicating that they may be victims.
No additional conditions required for other types of residence permits shall be imposed when issuing these residence permits.
